Using a new Homag airTec Edge Bander we are able to offer a variety of ABS and PMMA edge banding coated with a layer of polymer (often referred to as the functional layer). In the banding process, this layer of polymer is melted and adhered to the edge. The result is a great bond, with moisture and heat resistance that is far superior to the traditional hot melt adhesive application of edge banding which is still an option with this machine.
Because this layer of polymer is very thin it produces a bond line that will appear to be nearly seamless. It is most advantageous when using a high gloss face and edging making a near monolithic appearance of the panel.
